The quality of foldable steel pallets can be judged comprehensively from five core dimensions: appearance and workmanship, dimensional accuracy, load-bearing capacity, folding structure, and processing technology. Specific methods are as follows:
1. Examine the appearance and welding process:
Characteristics of high-quality products: The surface is smooth and flat, free from cracks, rust, unevenness, and uniform color, without defects such as missed areas, pinholes, bubbles, or color differences; welds are smooth and uniform, free from pores, cracks, weld slag residue, and incomplete welds; weld joints are smoothly ground, no more than 2mm higher than the main body, and the connections are firmly welded.
2. Check dimensional accuracy errors:
The dimensional deviation of qualified products will be controlled within a reasonable range: Unless otherwise specified, the dimensional deviation, based on the centerline, should be controlled within ±0.5mm. Excessive error will prevent compatibility with existing racks and forklifts, leading to jamming and unusable conditions. If used in conjunction with automated warehousing, the error requirements are even stricter, and the accuracy requirements need to be confirmed with the manufacturer in advance.
3. Verify Load-Bearing Capacity
Foldable steel pallets must simultaneously meet both folding structure and load-bearing requirements. Inferior products are prone to deformation under load: Qualified products can withstand the nominal rated weight, and after 24 hours of uniform loading, the shelf deflection (bending deformation) should not exceed 1/200 of the pallet length; high-quality products will undergo impact testing: dropping the rated weight of goods from a height of 10cm, the connection points should not loosen; you can request the manufacturer to provide a third-party load-bearing test report.
4. Check the Reliability of the Folding Structure
The folding structure is a core difference in quality and requires thorough testing: repeatedly fold and open more than 5 times to check for smoothness and any jamming or jamming; after folding, it should fit neatly without warping or excessive gaps; the hinges, pivots, and pins at the folding joints should be sufficiently thick. High-quality products will undergo more than 5000 opening and closing fatigue tests, with load-bearing capacity reduction not exceeding 5%, while inferior products will loosen and deform after only a few uses.
5. Check the environmental friendliness and durability of the surface treatment
Environmental friendliness: Must be made of environmentally friendly materials, have no pungent odor, meet export requirements, and be recyclable;
Corrosion resistance: Must undergo pickling and phosphating pretreatment before powder coating, resulting in a surface gloss greater than 60 degrees, uniform color, no burrs or missed areas, and resistance to rust and paint peeling in humid or low-temperature environments; galvanized products have a uniform coating, no missed areas or peeling, and better corrosion resistance.
