How to Choose the Right Stackable Steel Stillages

Stackable steel stillages are unitized storage equipment that combines pallet and rack functions. When selecting one, you need to carefully select from three dimensions: scenario suitability, core parameters, and quality details. Here are the specific selection steps:

1. First, determine the basic type based on the usage scenario

Different scenarios have significantly different structural requirements for racks. You can first choose the appropriate type:

Temporary storage/rental warehouse: Prioritize foldable and stackable models. When not in use, they can reduce storage space by more than 70%, lowering idle space costs and adapting to variable storage needs.

Long-term fixed bulk storage/heavy goods: Choose fixed stackable racks. They offer stronger structural stability, higher load-bearing capacity, and safer multi-layer stacking.

Irregularly shaped goods storage: For items such as tires, fabrics, and rolls, you need to choose a custom-designed model to prevent goods from slipping.

2. Confirm Core Parameters to Match Actual Needs

Load Capacity Parameters: Select the appropriate model based on the weight of the goods you intend to store. Industry standard classifications are:

Light Duty: Single-layer load capacity ≤ 500kg, suitable for storing boxed daily necessities and small parts;

Medium Duty: Single-layer load capacity 500kg-1500kg, suitable for industrial semi-finished products and boxed raw materials, the most commonly used specification;

Heavy Duty: Single-layer load capacity ≥ 1500kg, suitable for metal molds and heavy materials, requiring thicker uprights and plates.

Size Parameters: The internal dimensions must be compatible with the length and width of the goods/pallet, allowing for 1-2cm of installation allowance;

The number of stacking layers needs to be determined based on the warehouse height and forklift lifting height: generally, the total height should not exceed 80% of the warehouse's net height, allowing for operational space.

Material & Process Requirements: Q235 carbon steel is preferred due to its superior toughness and load-bearing capacity compared to ordinary steel. Surface Treatment: For general indoor environments, powder coating is recommended; colors are optional and the cost is low. For humid/cold storage/outdoor environments, hot-dip galvanizing is preferred for stronger corrosion and rust resistance and a longer service life. Welding Inspection: Ensure there are no incomplete welds or leaks; welds should be smooth and burr-free to prevent stress concentration and breakage.

3. Key points for quality judgment during on-site acceptance

Check structural stability: After stacking the empty frames, there should be no obvious shaking of the uprights when shaken, and the gaps at the joints should be small;

Check the workmanship details: The surface powder coating should be uniform without peeling or pungent odor, and the edges and corners should be polished without sharp burrs;

Additional tests for foldable models: Folding and unfolding operations should be smooth, and the latches should open and close flexibly without jamming.
